Prayer Walk:
We are having a prayer walk this Saturday evening for Sex Trafficking victims.
Typically we do the prayer walks in a as-the-spirit-leads manner. For this type of intercession event we do a combination of driving & walking to visit the areas of town with high potential of trafficking activities. If we have enough people interested in this week's walk, we'll split up into groups - each focusing on an area to visit and pray over. Our typical night starts at 9pm and goes till around midnight.
We aim to bring God's presence, light, & hope into these areas that are so clearly ruled by darkness now. I hope you can make it!
Please email changeyourworldhawaii dot org for more information.
Movie Night:
Consider attending a movie night on Saturday, November 1st at 7pm at "the Kalihi House". As of now, the plan is to watch Born Into Brothels, but the movie isn't set in stone.
Please email changeyourworldhawaii dot org for more information
DIRECTIONS TO "KALIHI HOUSE"
From H1 West, Take the Likelike exit, First Left on School Street (at the light), Third Right on Gulick Ave (you'll see Tasty Chop Suey on rt and Freedom Gas station on lft). Road will get really narrow and then you'll see the house on the left, 1650 Gulick Ave. Look for the Christmas lights on the lani.
Let me know if you're coming so we can try to arrange for parking. Find street parking on Gulick, or park at Kamehameha Shopping center and walk over- which takes about 5 minutes.
BORN INTO BROTHELS
Born Into Brothels is a documentary about the inspiring non-profit foundation Kids With Cameras, which teaches photography skills to children in marginalized communities. In 1998, New York-based photographer Zana Briski started photographing prostitutes in the red-light district of Calcutta. She eventually developed a relationship with their children, who were fascinated by her equipment. After several years of learning in workshops with Briski, the kids created their own photographs with point-and-shoot 35 mm cameras. Their images capture the intimacy and color of everyday life in the overpopulated sections of Calcutta. Proceeds from the sale of the children's photographs go to fund their future education. Directed by Briski and filmmaker Ross Kauffman, Born Into Brothels was shown at the Sundance Film Festival in 2004 as part of the documentary competition. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide
